VSEDC recognizes that commercial enterprise and housing are two critical components of an empowered and revitalized community. To date, the organization has facilitated myriad initiatives to attract businesses to the South Los Angeles community, create jobs with prospects for growth and advancement and afford low-income residents the opportunity to own homes and build wealth.
VSEDC has produced more than $60 million in physical development projects and created/retained more than 3,000 jobs in the South Los Angeles community.
VSEDC envisions South Los Angeles as a vibrant and interconnected community. Home ownership is a key aspect of this vision as it creates stability and the foundation for relationship-building among residents. Home ownership is also a critical element of wealth creation and self-sufficiency. As such, access to affordable housing is an important community need that VSEDC has met through various initiatives.
